Following the new roadmap being set out for Scotland by the First Minister, I thought it would be helpful to summarise what stage we are at within Complete Dentistry.
Although general services are starting to open up, remember that your dental care is provided in very close proximity, sometimes for a prolonged period of time. Additionally:
- almost all dentistry involves Aerosol Generating Procedures (AGPs) ie the fine spray of air and water and for this we have to wear full PPE including the tight fitting air tight masks
- there is also a 'fallow time' after this type of treatment of 30 minutes where the surgery has to be left empty
- we always have, and continue to, follow the national guidance that has been provided to us by the NHS and other government organisations
Consequently, we are only able to work to about 25-30% of normal appointments. This is far from ideal for you or us. In a nutshell, this means that we cannot see the usual numbers of patients. This has meant that we have not been able to reschedule routine examinations as quickly as you or I would want.
No doubt the guidance on this will change over time and we will react to this as soon as we are able.
This is an email that we received from one of our long standing patients which reassured us that we were getting the safety side of things right from a patients point of view:
I would like to thank all the staff from the minute I arrived until my appointment at XXXXX on Monday.
The receptionist who met me initially was very helpful and the two ladies who looked after me whilst having my hygienist appointment were excellent.
It went very smoothly and the protocols in place we're very reassuring.
Kind wishes to all the staff.
In the meantime, if you are having any problems or have any concerns about your mouth, please contact us on 01041-889 2016.
PLEASE DO NOT JUST TURN UP FOR AN APPOINTMENT AS THE DOOR WILL BE LOCKED. YOU MUST PHONE IN ADVANCE TO BE TRIAGED.
Please share this information with anybody else that attends the practice.
